Klassic Shang Tsung is less about simple basic-attack carrying and more about options. His design supports Klassic teams and gives him flexible Special 2 utility through morphing into different fighters. Where Shang Tsung can beat Hanzo as an investment

• Your main roster already contains several strong Klassic fighters.
• You value matchup tools and team support more than one primary carry.
• You have enough copies and Ascension resources to reach meaningful Stage II progress.
• You expect to use him in Khaotic Krypt or Elder Survivor where roster depth matters.

Why resource availability matters more here

A theoretically excellent Stage II card is not a good investment when you cannot realistically promote it. Compare the copies and resources already on your account. A ready Hanzo can produce value sooner than a low-Fusion Shang Tsung that requires a long acquisition path.

Klassic Sub-Zero deserves attention because he has Stage II access, but he should not be ranked above every Stage I fighter merely for that reason. His Special 2 chain rewards execution and familiarity. Players who already use him effectively can gain a lot from the extra stats, new mode access and fourth-slot build. Players who avoid him now are unlikely to enjoy him simply because the border becomes stronger.

Kombat Cup Johnny Cage is one of the strongest arguments against ranking purely by Stage number. His Special 1 Power Drain, fast pressure and Kombat Cup passive value solve real combat problems before Ascension enters the picture. Extra promotions therefore improve a card that can already carry Towers, control dangerous Specials and support a practical Gold team.

Why he is especially good for developing accounts

Midgame players often have low-Fusion Diamonds but highly fused Challenge Golds. In that situation, investing in Johnny can create more immediate boss and Tower value than saving every Ascension resource for a Stage II fighter that is not part of the current team.

If your main reason is Brutality access, plan around the required Stage I milestone and the actual Equipment set. Do not keep spending automatically after reaching the goal. Re-evaluate once the card is doing the job you needed.

Klassic Scorpion remains one of the most flexible Golds because his Special 1 does more than deal damage. It helps control the active opponent, adds Bleed pressure and creates a repeatable offensive loop. Those functions remain useful when raw stats stop being enough.

Best reasons to choose Klassic Scorpion

• You need a reliable Gold carry that works outside a single named team.
• You value active-target control in normal Tower battles and difficult matchups.
• You already have him at a much higher Fusion than your Stage II options.
• You want an Ascension target whose kit stays relevant even without finisher gear.

For boss-specific problems, pair his offensive role with the counters in the Tower Boss Guide rather than expecting one Gold card to solve healing, resurrection and immunity by itself.

Triborg Sub-Zero becomes more attractive when you already run Triborg synergy. Freeze and Frostbite create control windows, and a well-built Triborg team can convert those windows into safe Specials and repeated pressure. Ascension adds durability and damage to a fighter whose role is already clear.

He is a worse choice when you are not actually using Triborgs. Ascending a synergy card without the surrounding team creates a high-stat character with less practical return than a lower-ranked universal carry.
